ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Alexis Lynn Baker (b. 1996, United States) attended the Savannah College of Art and Design, to receive a bachelor's degree in painting, with a double minor in printmaking and drawing. Within the following years she intends on seeking ways to help create space for other artists to create. Sharing knowledge of the fine arts and finding passion within tradition is important to Baker, which is why she hopes to focus on traditional printmaking practices. Baker’s work varies in meaning and style, depending on her current ‘time-line’ and inspiration. Because of her traditional drawing training, her printmaking tends to be more portrait based, full of line and structure. However, her painting approach is fluid with gestural notations within her abstract works.
Baker has exhibited works from France to Savannah, GA, and has been in seven group exhibitions since the fall of 2018. Her biggest showing was at the Winter Showcase, Open Studio in the winter of 2018, which held seven of her works in one exhibition. In contrast, her newer exploration in curation led her to curate her first exhibition between two other SCAD artists in April of 2021, titled “Oh, you Implied it”.
